Construction of volleyball courts

Why are volleyball courts so popular?

The popularity of volleyball courts—both indoor and beach—is due to several key factors that attract players and spectators around the world. Volleyball requires only a ball, a net, and adequate space, making it an easily accessible form of physical activity. The rules are relatively simple to understand, which helps make the sport appealing to a wide audience. Volleyball is excellent for developing coordination, speed, agility, and overall physical fitness. It also promotes teamwork and communication skills, which are valuable both on and off the court.

What does the construction of an indoor volleyball court look like?

At GRIMAR, we approach each project individually to provide the best service and craftsmanship. Since every investment is unique, the scope of work may vary. However, here are some of the basic stages that are always involved:

Location selection

Volleyball courts can be built as part of larger sports complexes and indoor halls or as outdoor facilities.

Space planning

The standard dimensions of a volleyball court are 18 x 9 meters, with additional safety zones around the court (3 meters on each side and 5 meters behind the end lines).

Playing surface

A suitable surface is key to ensuring player comfort and safety. The most commonly used materials are wood (parquet) or special PVC sports flooring that provides proper cushioning and grip.

Installation of poles and net

The net poles must be securely fixed to ensure safe use and must meet height requirements: 2.43 m for men and 2.24 m for women.

Lighting and acoustics

Proper lighting that does not blind players is essential for comfortable play. Appropriate acoustics also enhance the user experience.

Court markings

The court must be clearly marked with 5 cm wide lines, usually in a contrasting color for good visibility.

Building a volleyball court requires taking specific technical requirements into account and ensuring regular maintenance to provide players with the best playing conditions. Depending on the location and available budget, certain elements such as the choice of materials or type of supporting infrastructure can be adjusted.
